A Typical Path
Your doctor’s goal will always be to start with the least invasive methods to support your chances of getting pregnant and delivering a healthy baby. Depending on your unique factors, you may begin at any point along the following path, and your doctor may recommend a combination of these options.
Fertility medications with intercourse
Your doctor may prescribe Clomiphene Citrate (“Clomid”) or Letrozole (“Femara”) to stimulate your ovaries while continuing to have intercourse with your partner. Understanding your ovulation cycle and making minor lifestyle changes to support healthy eggs and sperm can help your chances of success.
Fertility medications combined with IUI
After taking a round of ovarian stimulating medications, your doctor will perform an IUI. During this procedure the doctor will bypass your cervix and place sperm directly in your uterus at the time of ovulation. When combining fertility medications with IUI, our goal is to stimulate your ovaries to produce mature follicles that will maximize your chance of conception.
